## Short answer

No. Bake3D rigs only the models it builds from your picture or description. It cannot rig a 3D file you made in another program or downloaded.

## In more detail

To rig a model you already have, you have good options:

- **Rig it by hand in Blender.** Blender is free, and its Rigify add-on gives you a ready skeleton for people and animals. Our [Blender rigging guide](https://bake3d.ai/guides/how-to-rig-in-blender) shows each step.
- **Use an auto rigger that fits your body type.** Some free tools rig human-shaped models in minutes. The [Mixamo alternatives guide](https://bake3d.ai/guides/mixamo-alternatives) compares them, with options for animals and creatures.

Bake3D can still help if you have a picture of your character, like concept art or a render of your model. Bake3D builds a new model from that picture and rigs it. The new model is its own build, not a copy of your file, so the shape and the mesh will be different.

If you only want to look inside your file, the free [3D viewer](https://bake3d.ai/tools/3d-viewer) shows its skeleton and plays its animations in your browser, without uploading it.

We know many people want to upload their own model. It is not possible today. We will update this page if that changes.
