Which AI tools turn one picture into a rigged, animated 3D character? Meshy, Tripo, Anything World, 3D AI Studio, Rodin and Bake3D compared, October 2026.

## Short answer

Five tools turn one picture into a rigged 3D character you can animate: Meshy, Tripo, Anything World (now Everything Universe), 3D AI Studio and Bake3D. Meshy and Tripo cost the least per model, and Meshy has 600+ ready human motions. Tripo rigs the most creature types. Anything World also rigs vehicles. Bake3D, our tool, rigs any body from its own shape and moves it from words you type. Hyper3D Rodin makes clean models but no rig.

## How we checked

We read each company's own pricing pages, docs and help pages on 9 October 2026 and link them under Sources. We did not run the same picture through every tool, so this compares features, limits and prices, not how good each model looks. Bake3D facts come from our own product, including bake and motion times measured on real customer jobs from 24 September to 8 October 2026.

Going from one picture to a moving 3D character takes three jobs. First the tool builds a textured model. Then it rigs it, which means it puts a skeleton inside and ties the skin to the bones. Then it makes the skeleton move. Many tools do the first job. Only a few do all three, and they split on the kind of body they can handle.

If your character is human, you have plenty of good choices. If it is a fox, a dragon, a spider or a robot, the list gets short fast. This guide shows where each tool stops, so you can pick two to test instead of six.

Want to see the end result first? The free [demo](https://bake3d.ai/demo) plays four rigged characters in your browser, and its "Direct it" box makes a new motion from words you type. Our [3D character maker](https://bake3d.ai/3d-character-maker) page shows the whole Bake3D workflow, and the [free 3D models](https://bake3d.ai/free-3d-models) page lets you download those characters to test in your own engine.

## The tools at a glance

Here is what each tool says it does, from its own pages, checked on 9 October 2026.

| Tool | What goes in | Rigs non-humanoid bodies? | Motion from text? | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Meshy | 1 to 4 pictures, or text | Four legs, plus a beta rig for other creatures. Not vehicles | Yes, for biped rigs | Human characters with many ready moves |
| Tripo | 1 to 4 pictures, or text | Yes: 4, 6 and 8 legs, birds, snakes, sea creatures | Named on one page; not in its animation docs | Rigging many creature types |
| Anything World | A picture or text, or your own model | Yes: animals, birds, fish, snakes, vehicles | No | Ready clips for set categories |
| 3D AI Studio | 1 to 4 pictures, or text, on many AI models | Two legs, four legs, birds, snakes | No; 12 presets | Trying many generators on one bill |
| Hyper3D Rodin | 1 to 5 pictures, or text | No rigging found | No | A clean model to rig yourself |
| Bake3D (ours) | 1 to 4 pictures, or text | Yes: any body plan, including wheels | Yes, for any body it builds | Animals, creatures and machines that must move |

And here is what comes out, what the free plan allows and what one rigged model costs.

| Tool | Exports | Free tier | Price per rigged model |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meshy | GLB, FBX, USDZ and more | 100 credits a month; 10 Lite downloads; CC BY 4.0 | About $0.60 on Pro (30 credits, rig free) |
| Tripo | GLB, FBX, USD, OBJ, STL, 3MF | 200 credits a month; public and non-commercial; 15 exports | About $0.30 on Pro (45 credits) |
| Anything World | FBX, GLB, glTF, OBJ, USDZ | Web app: 15 credits a month, 1 model download | Not stated per model; web plans from $30 a month |
| 3D AI Studio | GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL and more | Some free credits; rigging on paid plans | About $0.76 on Basic (40 credits), plus 15 a clip |
| Hyper3D Rodin | GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL, USDZ | Pay only for results you keep | About $0.50 a model on Creator, no rig |
| Bake3D (ours) | GLB, FBX; STL or OBJ of a pose | Free demo, free picture check, 4 free CC BY models | $3.12 to $4.06 in packs (65 credits) |

"Price per rigged model" uses each tool's cheapest monthly plan and assumes you use every credit in the month. Unused credits raise the real price. Bake3D's figure uses its credit packs, whose credits never expire. Meshy's figure uses its Meshy 6 model, and a Meshy 7 model costs 5 credits more.

*Figure: Three jobs, six tools. Green means the tool's own pages say it does this. Amber means it does with limits, and an empty ring means we found no sign of it. Checked on 9 October 2026.* ([picture](https://bake3d.ai/guides/image-to-rigged-character-tools.svg))

## How we checked

On 9 October 2026 we read each company's pricing page, docs, help center and changelog. Every fact in the table links to its source at the end of this page. Some vendors disagree with themselves. Meshy's pages give its motion library as 500+, 600+ and 631 clips, and Anything World shows two different price lists. Where that happens, we say so.

We did not run the same picture through every tool. So this guide compares what each tool does, allows and costs, not how good its models look.

For Bake3D, we used our own production numbers from 24 September to 8 October 2026. Across 239 bakes, the typical character went from picture to finished rig in about **8 minutes**, and half of them took between 5 and 11 minutes. Across 121 described motions, the typical one was ready in about **35 seconds**. The four [demo](https://bake3d.ai/demo) characters and the [free CC BY models](https://bake3d.ai/free-3d-models) are real Bake3D output, made the same way.

## Meshy

Meshy turns one to four pictures, or a sentence, into a textured model. In its web app, rigging and its ready motions cost no extra credits.

**Pros.** It is cheap per model. A Meshy 6 model is 20 credits for the shape and 10 for the texture, so about $0.60 on the $20 Pro plan. Its library has more than 600 human motions, and 22 of them come with every plan, even the free one. In July 2026 it added text to motion for rigged characters. It also has plug-ins for Blender, Unity, Unreal and Godot, an API and an MCP server.

**Limits.** Its help center says walking is the only animation for four-legged animals. Models rigged with its beta Smart Rig cannot use the motion library yet. Its rigging docs say props, buildings and vehicles cannot be rigged. Free users get 10 downloads a month, of Meshy 6 Lite models only, under CC BY 4.0. Our [Meshy AI review](https://bake3d.ai/guides/meshy-ai-review) covers the rest.

**Pick it when** your characters are people and a big library of ready moves saves you time.

## Tripo

Tripo makes a model from one to four pictures or a sentence, then rigs it. It also rigs models you upload as OBJ, FBX or GLB.

**Pros.** It lists more body types than any other AI tool here: two legs, four legs, six legs, eight legs, birds, snakes and sea creatures. It is also cheap per model. In Tripo Studio, a model is 15 credits, its texture 10 and the rig 20, so about $0.30 on the $20 Pro plan with 3,000 credits.

**Limits.** Most creature types get very little motion. Its developer docs list over 90 presets for its older two-legged rig, and 16 presets for its newer rig that handles creatures. Its retargeting docs list one clip for most creature types and none for birds. One of its pages mentions text to motion, but its animation docs only list presets, so we could not confirm it. Free models are public and cannot be used for business, with 15 exports.

**Pick it when** your subject has an unusual body and you mainly need it rigged. Our [Meshy vs Tripo](https://bake3d.ai/guides/meshy-vs-tripo) guide puts these two side by side.

## Anything World (Everything Universe)

Anything World now trades as Everything Universe. Its Generate Anything tool makes a model from a picture or text, and its Animate Anything tool rigs it, or a model you upload.

**Pros.** It rigs a long list of categories, from people and four-legged animals to birds, fish, snakes and worms, and vehicles with two, three or four wheels. Vehicles are split into parts, like wheels and a body. Its docs list about 50 clips for people, about 20 for dogs and cats, and a few for birds, such as fly, glide and hop.

**Limits.** Its docs list no clips for vehicles and only 2 or 3 for a tortoise or a turtle. Insects and spiders are marked as coming soon. Uploads must be under 30 MB, and models with more than 20,000 points are simplified. There is no motion from text. Its web app showed a free tier of 15 credits a month with 1 model download, and paid plans from $30 a month. Its main pricing page shows a different, seat-based list.

**Pick it when** your subject fits one of its categories and its ready clips cover what you need.

## 3D AI Studio

3D AI Studio runs models from other companies and bills you from one credit balance. It makes a model from one picture, two to four views or text.

**Pros.** You can try several generators on the same picture. Rigging through its Prism model covers two legs, four legs, birds and snakes, and it has 12 ready animations. Its pricing page says commercial use is allowed on every plan.

**Limits.** Rigging is on paid plans. Creatures only rig through Prism, since its other rigging model does humans only. Each animation costs 15 credits, and there is no motion from text. A model plus a Prism rig is about 40 credits, or about $0.76 on the $19 Basic plan. Its own pages disagree on which body types it rigs. Our [3D AI Studio alternatives](https://bake3d.ai/guides/3d-ai-studio-alternatives) guide goes deeper.

**Pick it when** you want to compare AI models before you settle on one.

## Hyper3D Rodin, plus a rig elsewhere

Rodin makes models from text or from one to five pictures, with a focus on clean shapes and textures. It can make a character in a T-pose or A-pose, which is easier to rig.

**Pros.** If the shape matters most, it is a strong start. It exports GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL and USDZ. The free plan lets you pay only for results you keep, at $1.50 a credit, and Creator is $30 a month for about 60 models.

**Limits.** Its animation page says Rodin does the modeling and texturing, and we found no rigging tool in its docs or on its pricing page. One of its blog posts, from February 2026, says a model was rigged automatically, so ask Hyper3D before you count on it. Plan to rig the model yourself, in Blender or with a tool from our [Mixamo alternatives](https://bake3d.ai/guides/mixamo-alternatives) list.

**Pick it when** you already rig by hand. Our [how to rig in Blender](https://bake3d.ai/guides/how-to-rig-in-blender) guide covers that step.

## Bake3D

Bake3D is our own tool, so read this part with that in mind. It makes a textured model from one to four pictures or a sentence, then plans the skeleton from the model's real shape. It is built for one job: getting any kind of body to move.

*Figure: Four rigs Bake3D made, each from one picture or a short text prompt. No human template was forced onto the fox or the T. rex: their legs and tails got their own joints. These are the free demo characters, rendered in Blender.* ([picture](https://bake3d.ai/guides/free-3d-animation-rigs-four-bodies.webp))

**Pros.** Legs, wings, tails, fins and wheels each get their own joints, and rigid parts like wheels stay stiff. You can type a motion, like "wag the tail and look left", for any body it builds, and it fits a walk, trot, run and jump to the rig's own legs. Seventeen ready motions are free on your rigs. Each rig comes with a report of where the joints sit and how the skin bends. For human-shaped characters, it can use Mixamo, Unity or Unreal bone names.

**Cost.** A rigged character is 65 credits at Standard quality: 40 for the model and 25 for the rig, which comes with a four-second first motion. A described motion is 10 credits. Packs start at $5 for 80 credits, so one character costs $3.12 to $4.06 at pack prices. There are no free credits, but there is a free demo, a free readiness check of your picture and a first-character guarantee. See [pricing](https://bake3d.ai/pricing).

**Limits.** It costs more per model than Meshy or Tripo. It does not rig a model you upload. It moves the body, not the face. It exports GLB and FBX, plus STL or OBJ of a pose, but not USDZ. It has no library of hundreds of human clips.

**Pick it when** an animal, creature or machine must move in ways you choose. The [AI 3D animation generator](https://bake3d.ai/ai-3d-animation-generator) page shows how described motion works.

## Which tool fits your character

- **A person, with lots of ready moves:** Meshy.
- **A creature with six or eight legs, wings or fins, that mainly needs a rig:** Tripo.
- **A car, bike or truck with wheels:** Anything World, or Bake3D if you start from a picture.
- **Several AI models to compare first:** 3D AI Studio.
- **The cleanest shape, rigged by hand:** Hyper3D Rodin, then Blender.
- **Any body that must do more than walk, with motion you describe:** Bake3D.

For a still model you will never rig, our wider guide to the [best AI 3D model generators](https://bake3d.ai/guides/best-ai-3d-model-generators) covers more tools, including free open models.

## Test before you pay

Prices and feature lists only tell you so much. Run one picture of your own through two tools and check these things.

1. **Turn the model around.** One picture cannot show the back, so the AI guesses it.
2. **Count the joints.** Does each leg, wing, tail and wheel have its own? Our [rig checklist](https://bake3d.ai/guides/check-ai-generated-rig) shows where problems hide.
3. **Bend it.** Lift a leg and turn the head. Look for skin that stretches or tears.
4. **Count the motions for your body type.** Many tools rig a creature, then give it one walk. Our guide on how to [animate a 3D character by describing the motion](https://bake3d.ai/guides/animate-3d-character-from-text) covers the tools that make new motion from words.
5. **Read the license.** Free plans often mean public models, personal use only or credit to the tool. Our guide to [free AI 3D character makers](https://bake3d.ai/guides/free-ai-3d-character-maker) lists each free plan's real limits.

## Questions

### What is the best AI tool to turn a single image into a rigged, animated 3D character?

It depends on the body. For people, Meshy is hard to beat on price and ready motions. For creatures with many legs, wings or fins, Tripo rigs the most body types. For a vehicle, look at Anything World. For an animal, creature or machine that must do more than walk, Bake3D rigs any body and makes motion from text. Test your own picture before you pay.

### Can AI make a rigged 3D character from one image?

Yes. Meshy, Tripo, Anything World, 3D AI Studio and Bake3D all make a textured model from one picture and then add a skeleton. The back of the model is a guess, since one picture cannot show it. Adding more views of the same pose, which most of these tools accept, gives the AI less to guess.

### Which AI tool can auto rig animals, creatures and robots?

Tripo lists seven body types, including six and eight legs, birds, snakes and sea creatures. Anything World rigs animals, fish, snakes and wheeled vehicles. 3D AI Studio rigs two legs, four legs, birds and snakes. Meshy rigs four-legged animals and has a beta rig for other creatures, but not vehicles. Bake3D plans the rig from the model's own shape, including wheels.

### Meshy vs Tripo vs Rodin, which one rigs and animates?

Meshy and Tripo both rig and animate. Meshy has the bigger library of human motions and text to motion for biped rigs. Tripo rigs more creature types but gives most of them one clip. Rodin focuses on clean models and textures, and we found no rigging tool in its docs, so you rig its models elsewhere.

### Is there a free AI tool that turns an image into a rigged 3D character?

Not without limits. Meshy's free plan can rig and animate, but downloads are 10 Lite models a month under CC BY 4.0. Tripo's free models are public and non-commercial. Bake3D has a free demo, a free check of your picture and four free rigged models under CC BY 4.0, and your own characters start at $5.

### Can these AI tools rig a 3D model I already have?

Most can. Meshy, Tripo, 3D AI Studio and Anything World take an uploaded model. Bake3D cannot. It only rigs the models it makes from your picture or text. For a model you already have, see our guide to Mixamo alternatives.
